In Gaelic Caol Ila means “Sound of Islay”. Hector Henderson founded the distillery in 1846 near Port Askaig in a remote cove on Islay. The distillery uses water from Torrabolls Loch and the whisky produced at Caol Ila is mainly used in Johnnie Walker and Bell’s blended whisky. However they do still produce batches of very rare single malts. With a presentation box almost as gorgeous as the whisky itself, you know you're in for a treat with this independently bottled single cask expression.

Nose: Linen stored in a chest with camphor; then surprisingly fruity with damson jam and waxed Napoli lemon
Palate: Prickly pepper and sun dried and salted wood. Softer coconut and herbal notes develop like sage and rosemary dried in bundles. Fat, old and exceptionally well rounded
