Sold out... A dearly departed spirit. - £425.00
Alexander Reid first acquired his distilling licence for Macallan in 1824, and as such is one of the first to be licensed in Speyside. Originally, Macallan used water from Ringorm Burn, however it is now retrieved from the River Spey of which the company own a mile stretch purely for their supply! Macallan uses barley from the Tamdhu maltings and it is called Golden Promise barley. They use this particular barley because it gives a consistent flavour and quality. The whisky gets its very winey taste because the Distillery only ever use Spanish oak sherry casks. A fantastic 24 year old single cask Macallan expression... delicious!
Famously collectible, Macallan bottlings spent much of the past 10 years breaking the record for the world's most expensive bottle, only to have it snatched from them recently by a Dalmore.
